Use a short checklist to protect the training already completed instead of squeezing in one more test.
Keep the familiar things familiar
Race week is a poor time for a new shoe, hard workout, aggressive diet change or unfamiliar supplement. Follow the reduced training you planned and prioritise ordinary meals and sleep.
A missed final session will rarely be rescued by cramming it elsewhere.
Remove avoidable decisions
Confirm transport, start time, number collection, course rules and weather. Lay out tested clothing, shoes, identification, medication and fuel before the final evening.
Plan alternatives for heat, rain and delays.
Health comes before a start line
Do not race through severe or worsening pain, significant swelling, inability to bear weight, chest pain, fainting or acute illness. Seek appropriate professional care.
